ICAA’s Business Development program receives grant from the Wisconsin Department of Veteran Affairs
Ladysmith, WI— Indianhead Community Action Agency, Inc. is honored to receive a grant of $19,000 from the Wisconsin Department of Veteran Affairs (WDVA). Representative James Edming accepted the award in Madison on behalf of ICAA, and visited the ICAA Corporate office in Ladysmith to present the award.
Veterans comprise between 7 and 12.7 percent of the population in the counties served by ICAA. During the last few years, ICAA’s Small Business Development program has had the privilege of serving six Veterans by providing technical assistance in developing business plans in addition to funding several successful business start-ups owned and operated by Veterans. One of these start-ups includes an animal fiber processing business started by a young Veteran and his family in Hayward, WI.
“We are excited that the funds received from the WDVA will allow our Small Business Development program to continue to provide Veteran entrepreneurs with the technical assistance necessary to start or expand a small business,” said Jennifer Shearer, CEO. “Our Small Business Development staff will work with our Supportive Services for Veteran Families staff to assist a minimum of four Veterans with this grant.” The grant will serve individuals in Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Clark, Douglas, Price, Sawyer, Rusk, Taylor and Washburn counties.
