NEWCAP, Inc., is a locally controlled, private, not-for-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors made up of low-income, public, and private sector representatives. The involvement of low-income representatives in various aspects of the agency’s operation makes NEWCAP unique among human service organizations. The federally mandated mission of NEWCAP is to work toward the elimination of the causes of poverty by enabling and assisting low-income people to attain the skills, motivation, and opportunities necessary for them to become self-sufficient and independent.
