November 13, 2012 – Madison, WI – Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin, Inc. (CAC) has a new Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program for local veterans. The program, funded by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, will provide temporary financial assistance and case management for veteran households that are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. CAC plans to serve at least 20 low-income veteran households in Jefferson County each year. Eligible households will include single veterans and families in which the head of the household or the spouse of the head of the household is a veteran.
Greta C. Hansen, CAC’s Executive Director states, “CAC is honored to have this opportunity to serve veterans, to whom we all owe a great debt. It is upsetting to know that so many veterans are struggling to make ends meet. We look forward to using CAC’s expertise to help ensure that veterans and their families have stable housing, access to all the benefits for which they are eligible, and the support they need for a brighter future.”
