Wisconsin Community Action Program Association (WISCAP) announced today the promotion of two outstanding individuals and the addition of two talented consultants that together will help empower WISCAP to better serve its member agencies and offer organizational strength and encouragement during uncertain times.
Kassidy Farrey, a dedicated and accomplished member of the WISCAP team, has been promoted to Deputy Director. In this newly created position for WISCAP, Kassidy will serve as a core leadership team member, taking on a wide range of responsibilities to streamline the organization’s mission of creating economic opportunity and supporting community-based poverty solutions in Wisconsin. Her role will encompass integrating strategic objectives within all WISCAP initiatives, programs, and workflows. Kassidy will be instrumental in strategic planning, administrative work, and maintaining strong relationships with the WISCAP’s Board of Directors, state and federal officials, and partners for day-to-day operations.
“Kassidy has shown exceptional analytical and decision-making skills in the last six years and will bring those to the Deputy Director role. Her independent judgment, unwavering professional integrity, creativity, and initiative will be valuable assets as she supports this organizational restructuring,” Brad Paul, Executive Director of WISCAP, said.
Tom Behnke is promoted to Operations & Outreach Manager. Tom will oversee the agency’s human resources and operations and play a vital role inensuring that WISCAP maintains exceptional and innovative internal andexternal communication. This includes supporting Community Action Agencymember events, WISCAP events, collateral materials, and more.
Additionally, WISCAP announced an exciting set of consulting agreements that strengthen operations, engagement, and mission fulfillment. Amber Duddy has been retained as the Special Projects Consultant. For the last fifteen years, Amber has leveraged her lived experience growing up low-income to lead efforts and transform complex and unjust community systems. Most recently, Amber served as the Executive Director of the Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin (CAC).
WISCAP has also contracted with Victoria Thayer of Novii CPA to improve its accounting and overall fiscal operations. Novii’s commitment to meaningful community engagement is an ideal match with WISCAP and its service-oriented network of member agencies. With these additions and strategic partnerships with the private sector, philanthropic organizations, faith-based groups, trade associations, and organized labor, the organization has strengthened its position as Wisconsin’s Poverty Fighting Network.
From this position, WISCAP will be advocating for passage of the -soon to be introduced – Wisconsin Opportunity Act in the State Legislature. The proposal, authored by Representative Lisa Subeck and Senator Jeff Smith, advances comprehensive anti-poverty legislation designed to aid impoverished communities through investments in housing, transportation, employment and business development training, and other services.
This comes at an alarming time, as the national child poverty rate has more than doubled in the last year, according to U.S. Census Bureau data gathered from NPR.
